Advanced Environmental Education Certification Program

The 600 educators who have invested up to four years and have completed their 200 hours of training, teaching and community leadership to achieve the honor of Certified Environmental Educator represent the top environmental education professionals in the state. As such, these individuals are leaders and high achievers who are dedicated to the profession. They are also a pool of candidates for the next level of certification.

The Environmental Education Fund, in partnership with colleges and universities, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and representatives of the state's Certified Environmental Educators, proposes to research and develop the nation's first Advanced Environmental Education Certification program. Through collaboration among these partners we will achieve consensus and develop a program worthy of the highest honor an environmental educator can receive. Appropriate reward and recognition for successful candidates will be a part of the Advanced Environmental Education Certification Program.

Contributors to the development of the Advanced Program to date include Proress Energy, Duke Energy Foundation, the Wildlife Resoruces Commission, Z. Smith reynolds Foundation and teh North Carolina Forest Service. We have only $2,000 more to raise to fully fund the year long program development process. Your contributions are welcome.
