Promoting North Carolina's Unique Ecological Treasures Protected Through Conservancies and Environmental Education Centers
The Environmental Education Fund is cultivating partnerships with land trusts to collaborate on developing environmental education programs about sites acquired by trusts for their ecological and historic value. While public access to these sites is often limited and has to be carefully managed, public understanding and a personal connection to the "why" of these sites can only serve to raise awareness of the unique "ecological address" of our state and each of its communities. With educational components as part of the acquisition package, growing public support for the preservation of open space is an added benefit to this proposal.
