Pablo Escobar (Current Chair) brings an international perspective to the Board of Directors. His fluency in foreign languages and his cross-cultural experience helps the Environmental Education Fund meet its mission in a diverse society. Being the son of a Mexican diplomat, Pablo lived in many different places as he was growing up, including 7 years in Europe. He also lived in Africa for two years as a Peace Corps volunteer.
Pablo is currently the Director of Operations for Urban Ministries, a not for profit organization that alleviates the harmful effects of poverty. Urban Ministries runs a shelter, a crisis program, a food pantry and a free clinic. Pablo has also served as a budget analyst with Wake County Government, as a financial director for Kaiser Permanente, and in several consulting assignments in both the public and private sector.
The Environmental Education Fund recently elected Pablo to be Chair of the Board of Directors. Pablo also serves on the board of Directors of El Pueblo, Inc., a Hispanic advocacy organization, where he serves as treasurer.
Pablo holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master in Public Administration from NC State. He is married to Margaret and is the father to Michael and Rachel.
