Deano Orr is a native of Courtland, Alabama and earned his Bachelors ofBusiness Administration from the University of Mississippi in Oxford,where he also lettered four years in varsity football (1989-1993). Deano is currently the Regional PublicAffairs Manager for International Paper, which manages its land under theSustainable Forestry Initiative. His responsibilities encompass all legislative, regulatory, environmental and administrative government affairs in the States of North Carolina and Virginia. Deano is a Board Member of the North Carolina Environmental Education Fund and he has spearheaded various contribution partnerships with the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources; most notably the Love-A-Tree Program, which is a statewide initiative to make children more knowledgeable and aware of their ecological address. In addition, Deano has played a major role informing successful partnerships involving conservation land sales in North Carolina, including a sale of over 3,000 acres to The Conservation Fund in March 2003, and a sale of more than 38,000 acres to The Nature Conservancy in May 2002. In addition Deano is a Board Member of the North Carolina Forum for Research and Economic Education, and a member of various organizationcommittees including: North Carolina Forestry Association’s LegislativeCommittee, MCIC’s Government Affairs Committee, Leadership North Carolina -Class X, Rotary International, and the First Missionary Baptist Church of Courtland, Alabama Deano has more than nine years of diverse experience in theforest products industry and he is very passionate about continuingconservation efforts in the State of North Carolina.Deano resides in Raleigh, North Carolina. |
