Neasha Bryant is a science educator with the Environmental Resource Program, the outreach and public service unit in the UNC Institute for the Environment. She has more than ten years of experience teaching in public schools and administering programs for youths and adults. Prior to working at UNC Chapel Hill, she was a public health educator with the NC Children's Environmental Health Branch and grant coordinator for the CDC-funded NC Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program in the Division of Environmental Health in the NC Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). She worked in the DENR Office of Environmental Education researching and developing strategies to provide resources to minority and other underserved populations in the state, and she continues to make outreach to these groups a focus of her work. Neasha was employed as the program coordinator for the Durham County Literacy Council's adult basic education program, in which she recruited and trained literacy volunteers and provided technical assistance for the instruction of adult students. She taught high school social studies in her native Chatham County for five years.
Neasha earned her BA degree in History from Merdith College in Raleigh and her Master's degree in Public Administration from North Carolina Central University in Durham. She is currently residing in Raleigh and is a native of Moncure, North Carolina. Her hobbies include reading, writing poetry, and taking long drives to the NC mountains. |
