Adam Migliore Meyer was born on October 17, 1989. He lives in Raleigh, North Carolina with his mother Sally, father Andrew, and sister Joanna. Adam graduated from Raleigh Charter High School in 2008 and attends UNC-Chapel Hill.
From an early age Adam developed a concern about the impact people have on the environment. In the third grade he joined environmental nonprofits with his allowance. Fueled by his passion he took a further step by researching environmental problems and writing letters to elected officials locally and nationally. Adam’s commitment to improving the community around him has led to the creation of Adam’s Creekside Revival, his Stream Watch group. To increase donations to environmental nonprofits he has created three calendars with pictures from accross the country and Canada and tips about conservation. Adam’s calendar has raised a couple thousand dollars over three years for many environmental nonprofits such as the Sierra Club, Environmental Defense Fund, Neuse River Foundation, North Carolina Conservation Network, and the Environmental Education Fund. Adam won the Third Place Award from Action for Nature`s International Young Eco-Hero Award 2005 for his calendar project. His latest environmental campaign is the Richland Initiative (www.saverichland.org), which aims to protect open space surrounding Umstead State Park in Raleigh. Adam plans to pursue studies and a career in the environmental field. |
